Wondering who are the people behind 350 Philly?
Meenal Raval – Spokesperson – Meenal owns Philly Electric Wheels, offering the best selection in folding and electric bikes in the region. She’s also a catalyst at the Sierra Club’s Ready for 100 campaign in Montgomery County, and active with the Northwest Philly Solar Co-op and Pennsylvania Interfaith Power & Light. Mitch Chanin – Strategist – A Philly native, Mitch has been involved with social justice organizing and activism for 20 years. He co-founded and directed a non-profit organization that helped Jewish people across North America to talk across political differences about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, before stepping down to devote more time to the movement for climate justice. In 2015, he received an “Emerging Leader” award from the Bread and Roses Community Fund for his environmental justice work. Reachable at mitchchanin at gmail.com
Our Fossil Free SEPTA campaign team consists of the above, plus these people:
Matthew Wang – Director of Union Outreach – Matthew is a Carpenter and proud member of Transportation Workers Union Local 234. He began working for SEPTA in 2011 and in 2013 joined the Buildings & Bridges’ Location Safety Committee where he serves as Recording Secretary. In addition to working as a Carpenter on SEPTA’s Facility Improvement Team, Matthew has documented safety and health concerns such as lead, asbestos, chemical off-gassing, and diesel exhaust. While at Drexel University, majoring in Architecture and minoring in the Sustainable Built Environment, Matthew co-founded a student organization, Fossil Free Drexel, part of a global movement promoting divesting from fossil fuel investments and reinvesting in renewable energy.
