The Williams Transfer Company, the installers of the Atlantic Sunrise pipeline, have admitted that land in Lancaster County was selected as a path of least resistance – Amish farmers who have been told that they can tap into the pipeline for free gas and who will not engage with community resistance –  and property owners of little means to fight the  claims of eminent domain.

Tue Jun 27 / 8 – 11a / Pipeline resistance – Court support for Gerhart family & Camp White Pine

Huntingdon County Courthouse, 223 Penn St, Huntingdon, PA

Sunoco Logistics/Energy Transfer Partners has filed for an injunction against the Gerharts and their supporters, demanding that they vacate their property in order to make way for the company to clear out the remaining trees and construct the Mariner East 2 pipeline. A similar injunction was filed last year before the other trees were cut and arrests were made with the charges being dropped after 8 months of court processes.

Comcast Center, 1701 JFK Blvd, Philadelphia

All climate strategies begin with reducing our dependance on fossil fuels, especially in transportation. Peter Javsicas, a transit & bicycle advocate, was killed by an out-of-control driver earlier this month on JFK Boulevard.

Please join the Vision Zero Alliance and Javsicas Family for a walk in memory of Peter Javsicas, and all victims of traffic violence.

The Bicycle Coalition and others have been working to promote already-planned changes to JFK Boulevard and Market Streets in Center City, Philadelphia, and Javsicas’ death is more evidence that something needs to be done to make those streets safer.

We have been promoting an email campaign targeting Council President Darrell Clarke to turn these plans into action now.

Please join us for this memorial walk. There will be a short speaking event at the Comcast Center, then another at Dilworth Park.
