Thu Jun 1 / 6-9p meet the Tar Sands Valve Turners – Learn to Shut it Down & Disrupt the System

Circle of Hope, 2007 Frankford Ave, Phila PA 

An opportunity to hear the inside scoop of what happened one day last  October when 5 activists simultaneously shut down all the pipelines carrying Canadian tar sands into the US. This was an unprecedented act that shut down 15% of US crude oil imports for nearly a day.

Hear what led them to take this stand, and join us for a provocative conversation about climate direct action, or what is required of us to maintain a livable planet for all. 

Minnesota valve-turner Annette Klapstein will be joined by film maker Steve Liptay who is facing charges for documenting the closure of the 2 Enbridge pipelines in Minnesota. Jay O’Hara of Climate Disobedience Center will be present, sharing his experience from being in the “command center” during the day.

The Lancaster Stand, 325 Conestoga Blvd, Conestoga PA. 

Greenpeace in partnering with Lancaster Against Pipelines to lead a special Non Violent Blockade Training.  While this training will reinforce principles and strategies we’ve already learned in previous training sessions, the majority of our time will be dedicated to more advanced actions with a special focus on blockades. So whether you’ve attended one of our previous trainings or not, we urge ALL of our friends and allies to make this upcoming training a priority!
