Since the morning of May 8, the Power Local Green Jobs campaign has been walking across PECO’s service area, to show our utility the way to a clean energy future, one with good paying jobs for those who need them most.
Mon May 22 12p – The final mile: Walk for Green Jobs & Justice
Thomas Paine Plaza, 1401 JFK Blvd to PECO HQ, 2301 Market St, Philadelphia
After approximately 100 miles, the walk will conclude with a final march to PECO headquarters. The final leg will be joined by 350.org founder Bill McKibben, Bishop Dwayne Royster, and other well-known leaders.

Last week the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that industry’s own self-reported data is showing methane emissions went up an alarming 20%. Philadelphia’s air quality is directly impacted to oil and gas air pollution. Over 30,000 Pennsylvania children per year will suffer asthma attacks due to ozone from this industry – over 6,000 of them living in the Philadelphia area. Join the bus headed to Harrisburg, asking Governer Wolf to fulfill his promise to us.
- 7am – bus from 30th Street Station, organized by Clean Air Council & Clean Water Action
- 11am – Press conference, PA State Capitol, 501 N 3rd St, Harrisburg
- 1130am – Air Pollution Action
- 1-4pm Meet with elected officials
- 6:30p – bus gets you back to 30th Street Station
